posted 4/24/13

District Administration Magazine’s article entitled Preparing for Online Teaching features the work that EdTech Leaders Online (ETLO) is doing to support educators as they transition into teaching in online and blended environments. ETLO Director Barbrara Treacy discusses the increasing popularity of online learning and shared with District Administration that, “What we’re going to see in the future is a spectrum of blended courses, and the rare classroom that is 100 percent face-to-face.”

The importance of providing professional development to help teachers learn to teach online is highlighted in the article. “Teachers need to experience online learning themselves, says Treacy of EdTech Leaders Online, to ‘use the tools and experience the change in pedagogical design teaching online—the way you interact, the pace of learning, and the opportunities in content.’ ” Some of the key strategies for effective online teaching that are a part of the ETLO’s Teaching Students in Online Classrooms and Teaching Students in Blended Classrooms online professional development courses are highlighted in the article.

When Intel was looking to partner with experts in online professional development to redesign their successful Intel Teach Elements online professional development courses and prepare online facilitators to deliver these courses to educators in their states, Intel turned to ETLO.
